CBCI Office for SC/BC shows Solidarity with Kevin’s family

Kevin a Dalit Christian S/O Mr. Joseph and Mary in Kottayam, Kerala was allegedly murdered in the name of honour killing for marrying Neenu who is a Syrian Christian. Fr. Devasagayaraj, Secretary to the CBCI Office for SC/BC along with Fr. Shaj Kumar, Regional Secretary to the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC), Fr. Albert, Vijayapuram diocesan SC/ST commission secretary, Mr. James, State president of Dalit Catholic Maha Sabha (DCMS) and Mr. Shibu Joseph, Vijayapuram diocesan DCMS president. Fr. Devasagayaraj conveyed the condolences to the family members from Most Rev. Sarat Chandra Nayak, Chairperson for CBCI Office for SC/BC and Most Rev. Theodore, Secretary General of CBCI and expressed solidarity of the Christian community at the time of the great loss of Kevin. He also endorsed the demand of KCBC for CBI enquiry and financial support to the family by the Government. The family members felt consoled by the visit from CBCI and KCBC. The delegation from the Catholic Church prayed with the family for the repose of the soul of Kevin and for the consolation of the bereaved family. Kevin’s parents Mr. Joseph and Mrs. Mary, his sister Ms. Kripa and his wife Neenu thanked the delegation for the visit.
