The Diocese of Port Blair became vacant at the publication of the acceptance of the resignation of Bishop,Most Rev. Alex Dias, SFX by  His Holiness Pope Francis, on 6^th January, 2019, the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord, at 12.00 hours in Rome (in India at 16.30 hours).

The College of Consultors in their meeting, held on 9th January, 2019, elected Fr.  Visuvasam Selvaraj as the Diocesan Administrator, of the Diocese of Port Blair (Andaman and Nicobar Islands)
