Puttur (CBCI News): St. Philomena College, Puttur, in the diocese of Mangalore has launched a programme of MSc Physics course. Bishop Aloysius Paul D'Souza, of Managalore in his presidential address stressed the importance of higher education like the PG studies. He urged the need for dedication, sacrifice and discipline to attain knowledge and improve character. These can make a person successful in society, he said.

Dr J S Bhat, Professor, PG Studies in Physics, Karnataka University, inaugurated the department. He highly appreciated the Catholic Board of Education for commencing this course to provide students of rural areas who would otherwise be deprived of post graduate education.
