Bishop Lawrence Gabriel, Bishop Emeritus of Tiruchirapalli, passed away on January 29 at 12.30 p.m. The funeral service was held at the St. Mary’s Cathedral on January 30, at 10.00 a.m. after which the body was taken to his home Diocese of Thanjavur where it was buried as per his desire. 

Bishop Sengole Lawrence Gabriel was born in 1928 and was ordained a priest in 1955. He was ordained bishop in 1990.
